The version of
MDSolids that you download from this site may be used free-of-charge for a 30-day
evaluation period. After 30-days, the unregistered software will cease to operate.
To continue using MDSolids, you must purchase a registration code. The purchase
of a registration code buys you a license to continue using the MDSolids software.
There are two versions
of MDSolids 3.x:
- Student Version:
A registration code for the Student Version costs only $25 US. This
version includes all of the features included in previous versions of MDSolids
plus the following new features.
- Combined
Loadings Module: Explains and illustrates problems involving combined
axial stresses, combined normal and shear stresses, and combined axial,
shear, and torsion stresses. The module uses 3d rendering and animation
to provide a detailed explanation of the effects of combined loadings
on typical types of structures and components.
- Animated
explanations: Problems such as punching shear, bolted connections,
segmented axial members, and many others are explained visually through
the use of 3d rendering and animations. These animations clearly depict
failure surfaces, free-body diagrams, and other aspects of basic problems
that are difficult to most students to visualize.
- Determinate
Beam Module: Linearly distributed loads have been added to the concentrated
load, concentrated moment, and uniformly distributed load types that were
previously available.
- Enhanced
screen layout: Many of the screens have been streamlined and updated
to make MDSolids easier to use.
- File
Access/Printing/Bitmaps/Excel Output:
These features described below are included in five selected modules in
the Student Version
- Truss
Module
- Determinate
Beam Diagrams Module
- Section
Properties Module
- Mohr's
Circle Transformations Module
- Stress-Strain
Curve routine
- Full Version:
A registration code for the Full Version of MDSolids costs only $60 US.
In addition to the features described above, the Full Version of MDSolids
includes:
- File
Access: File Open/Save/Save As/Save All capability is now available.
Users may elect to save data from an individual MDSolids module or may
save data from an entire session.
- Printing:
Print/Print Form/Print Screen capability has been added to every routine.
- Bitmaps:
Bitmap Capture and Copy to Clipboard capability is available for routines
that feature images.
- Excel
Output: Data from the Stress-Strain routine, the Section Properties
module, and the General Analysis Module can be saved in Excel spreadsheet
format (.xls).
- Customize
Material Lists: Users can create and modify the list of material properties
(e.g., Elastic moduli, shear moduli, stress limits, etc.) used by MDSolids.
- Customize
Unit Preference: Users can set a preference for either SI or US units.
Before purchasing a registration code, download and install MDSolids
on your machine. Make sure that you are completely satisfied with the
software's operation and content before registering. If you decide that MDSolids
is useful to you (and I think that you will find it very useful), purchase a
registration code. The fee for registration is non-refundable.
SWReg handles all transactions for MDSolids software. Once your transaction
is complete, SWReg will send you an e-mail receipt acknowledging
the transaction. This e-mail will also include your registration code. You will
not receive anything further such as a special version of the software through
the US Postal Service mail. (That's why it's important that you are completely
satisfied with the software before you purchase the code. I want you to be happy
with MDSolids before you buy anything.)
Your registration code must be entered in the MDSolids program. On the Help
menu, you will find an item called "Register MDSolids." Click on this
item, and then enter your name and registration code in the dialog boxes. The
code will remove the 30-day limitation.
